Description: Cornerstone Gardens is the first gallery-style garden exhibit in the United States. The nine-acre property includes an ever-changing series of exemplary gardens designed by landscape architects and designers alongside select retailers, a market-café, food services and event spaces. Cornerstone Gardens exhibits new and innovative design ideas from more than 20 designers as well as providing inspiration and resources for people interested in gardens and garden design. This unique property creates a cultural and creative respite for the community which represents the true connection between art, architecture and nature.
Inspiration: Cornerstone Gardens is modeled in part after the International Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire in France’s Loire Valley. Cornerstone Gardens is the first project of its kind in the United States.
Gardens
Resources: A select number of retailers present the best and most varied garden related materials such as plants to tools, pots, outdoor furniture, books and gifts. They are: Artefact Design & Salvage, Translations, Sloat Garden Center, A New Leaf Gallery, and The Market Café. Cornerstone also has meeting and conference space as well as an outdoor-tented garden suitable for weddings and corporate events. The site has approximately 200 parking spaces. Future plans include holding conferences and symposia on landscape architecture of national and international significance.
Tours: Each garden has an informative plaque which explains the garden, as well as contains a brief bio on each designer. A guidebook is for sale for $12.95 which gives a more comprehensive description of each garden, numerous photos, as well as photos of some of the designers' other work. Cornerstone can provide docent tours for groups of 10 or more. Please call our office.
